The Ol Malo Impact
As a family deeply rooted in Kenya, we stand by the people and wildlife of this land and are invested in their future. We support our partner, The Samburu Trust, by providing physical spaces such as two schools, the Trust Burns Room, the Mamaʼs Beading Workshop, and our Trust Gift Shop to sell their beaded products. We also give our time and expertise for free for assistance on wildlife conflict, medical care, and building water reservoir systems to support the entire ecosystem.
Conservation Projects
Our hope is to open your eyes to Regenerative travel, a form of tourism that aims to leave a destination in a better state than it was found.
The Samburu Trust
Cultural connections are woven into the fabric of Ol Malo, where guests engage with the local Samburu communities, gaining insights into their traditions and forging meaningful connections ‘giving back’ can be done through support to the Samburu Trust.
Born from Ol Malo, Samburu Trust was founded by Julia Francombe in 1998 during a devastating two-year drought that left women and children struggling to survive, and after a young girl named Nosokoni was trampled and seriously injured by an elephant.
Kenya Choppers & South Island Trust
Lake Turkana, the world’s largest desert lake, is one of Kenya’s most remote and ecologically unique regions. Through a strong partnership with the South Island Trust, Kenya Choppers is proud to be the core catalyst in supporting critical conservation efforts in this fragile ecosystem.
Kenya Choppers and Ol Malo are committed to blending high-end low impact tourism with long-term environmental stewardship. Our support to the South Island Trust is one way we ensure that conservation reaches even the most isolated corners of Kenya, where it is needed most.
